Kevin Fiege, the Marvel Studios boss, is planning on replacing the entire cast of X-Men and totally reworking the narrative.
The Disney/Fox merger is rapidly approaching its conclusion, and the fate of X-Men and Deadpool will be decided. What will happen to the brands?
According to rumors, Marvel Studios’ Kevin Fiege is planning a complete overhaul of the X-Men cast with the exception of Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, including an unknown amount of up-and-coming mutants.
The new cast will include well-known actors in their mid-to-late 20s, with Xav and Magneto being somewhere between 35 and 55 years old. I’m sure I could think of a few more actors right now, and I may very well produce a piece on my choices for the cast. Stay tuned for that.
I enjoy the present cast of characters, but I feel as though the plot has gotten out of control and needs a complete rewrite. Now that Hugh Jackman won’t be playing the wolverine any more, it’s time to start afresh.
Despite this, Deadpool is still new and doing well. I’m also confident that Disney will not risk losing fans by firing Ryan Reynolds. I’m asking this because, can you think of anyone else who could play Deadpool?
I can’t. Only someone as insane as Deadpool would be willing to take on this role. The majority of people feel the same about Wolverine, but Hugh Jackman has been playing him for so long that a fresh take is understandable.
But, we’re still a long way from hearing anything definitive about this. So, for the time being, let’s just concentrate on seeing Dark Phoenix in theaters June 7th 2019.
