Since the last few years, Khaleesi or Daenerys has been one of the most popular ‘Game of Thrones-inspired baby names, but see how the parents have reacted to naming their kid after the latest episode.
Before she followed in her father’s footsteps and became the Mad Queen, Daenerys Targaryen was seen as a savior of Westeros. The penultimate episode, no matter what happens in the final episode of “Game of Thrones,” has infuriated a lot of people and many of them believe that Daenerys would not have set fire to innocent citizens of King’s Landing.
Parents named their children Khaleesi in honor of the Mother of Dragons because they were enraged by Daenerys’ decision to burn the entire city. According to statistics from the United States Social Security Administration, over 4,500 babies were given names that included Game of Thrones characters. Of the 560 children, 56 were named Khaleesi, and 15 were named Daenerys.
Estrada told the publication, according to Independent, ‘I’m a little taken aback. It was a shame to see her take control of the situation. That was not cool.” She also noted that, while she remains loyal to the unique and powerful name and persona, the series’ most recent episode has altered her viewpoint on the character and what it represents. Another mother, Katherine Acosta, who named her one-year-old daughter Khaleesi, revealed to the Cut, ‘I’m still rooting for her after last night’s episode. I don’t believe she did anything illegal. I believe she accomplished everything that was necessary. She gave many options. She asks if you’re going to kowtow, implying that your continued existence as a free being is on the line. I’m not sure why everyone is acting confused. She’s done this before. At the end of the day, if you betray her, you don’t bend the knee; it’s what happens.’
