Is There Going To Be A Sequel To The Hit Movie Moana?

When Moana was released in 2016, it instantly became a hit with the audience. And now, there are reports that a sequel is in the works.

When Moana debuted in 2016, it was highly praised by both critics and consumers. It’s a fantastic Disney 3-D animated film about a young but inquisitive girl who embarks on an adventure in order to discover her true purpose. She’s on the hunt for the whereabouts of Maui, a legendary demi-God. She is on a mission to return the mystical treasure to the Goddess Te Fiti, and she also has to save her people from being killed. Since then, we’ve watched her incredible story play out. The film was popular and successful both critically and commercially, grossing over $643 million worldwide. As a result, it is only natural that the Mouse House would attempt to create a sequel to this film.

Auli I Cravalho provided the voice of Moana, Dwayne The Rock Johnson played Maui, Temuera Morrison was Moana’s father Taui, Nicole Scherzinger was Moana’s mother Sina, Rachel House was Moana’s grandmother, Jemaine Clement voiced the giant coconut crab.

According to We Got This Covered, a Moana 2 is already in the works, as they have claimed that the sequel has been given the green light by Disney. In addition, alongside our absolute favorite Dwayne The Rock Johnson, Auli i Cravalho will be making a comeback.

The first film in the franchise was excellent in terms of animation, great songs, and a moving narrative that had a Polynesian and Tongan foundation and drew the attention of millions of people.

There has been no official word from Disney as to whether or not a sequel will be made, but reports indicate that Lin-Manuel Miranda, the songwriter of the original film, has begun work on a sequel earlier this year. According to Page Six, Miranda has already met with Disney and is discussing the script of the sequel movie.

Based on all of these news, it appears that Disney will eventually make an official announcement. There were several ways for a sequel to the 2016 film to develop in the future.

At the conclusion of the film, Moana is seen returning home as a Wayfinder who utilizes ancient Polynesian navigation methods based on observing the sea, sky, and stars. Fans have already begun exploring and speculating different paths in the wake of the first film’s success, and there’s a chance Moana 2 will follow many different choices.

Since the film has been a hit for Disney, some fans might be wondering why it’s taking executives so long to come up with a sequel. Fans have been waiting for months to see whether or not Disney would pick up on the story.

However, it has been proved time and again that despite its reputation of being slow, Disney takes its sweet time in order to announce the sequels to movies. Fans were waiting a long time for ‘Frozen 2,’ and the gap between Toy Story sequels was also significant.

Last but not least, we’re all looking forward to a Moana sequel, yet we also need to bear in mind that nothing has been confirmed because Disney hasn’t addressed it. It’s better to wait until we hear official word on a sequel, despite the fact that it’s probable one will happen. Until then, keep an eye on this space since we’ll be updating it as soon as anything official surfaces.
