Queen of the South Season 6 Canceled: Latest Announcement Related to Season 6!

Queen of the South Season 6 Canceled

In April, fans of the hit USA Network show Queen of the South on Netflix watched the most recent episodes all at once. Fans who are looking forward to The Queen of the South Season 6 will be very sad to find out that those episodes will be the last ones for the show. In the summer of 2021, the USA Network showed the first new Queen of the South episodes. Around the same time, news came out that the show was ending.

Queen of the South is a show about a woman named Teresa Mendoza who goes from being poor to running her own drug cartel. Alice Braga plays Teresa Mendoza. The show has been a surprise hit for Netflix. Millions of people watch it to see what happens next.

Confirmed Cancellation of Queen of the South Season 6

It’s official: Season 6 of Queen of the South will not happen. USA Network made the announcement in August, just a few months after the fifth season of the show started.

Queen of the South was canceled in March 2021, a month before the fifth and final season aired. This is bad news for people who are just now learning about the show. After 62 episodes, the last one aired on USA Network on June 9, 2021.

Queen of the South’s sixth season was canceled because NBCUniversal was cutting back on scripted shows made just for USA Network. The company’s new plan is to put most of its scripted projects on Peacock and move its reality shows to the United States.

The show was made by both 20th Century Fox Television and Universal Content Productions, which is part of NBCUniversal. But since Disney changed 20th Television, Queen of the South is no longer under that company’s control.

Why was Season 6 of Queen of the South Canceled?

In March 2021, about a month before Season 5 started airing, Netflix said that it would be the last season. Frances Berwick, the chairperson of Entertainment Networks, which owns the USA, said in a press release, “Queen of the South has kept us interested for five great seasons with its great story and interesting characters.”

We are so thankful to have worked with such a great group of creators, cast, and crew, as well as our studio partners at 20th Television and UCP. As we end this last chapter, we look forward to a great season that will end with a finale that gives our fans the ending they deserve. When the show ended, it was the most-watched original drama in the USA.

The sixth season of Queen of the South was canceled because the network was putting less effort into making original dramas. At the time it was taken off the air, only Queen of the South, The Sinner, and Dirty John were still on. And as of November 2021, The Sinner is no longer on the air, and there are no plans for a third season of Dirty John.

Even though the USA shared Season 1 of Chucky with Syfy in late 2021, nothing has been said about whether or not it will air Season 2. This means that as of right now, the USA does not have any original dramas scheduled.

Will Netflix get season 6 of Queen of the South? In a technical sense, yes. But they haven’t done that yet with any US show that has done well for them, like Dare Me. Also, since it ended in the US almost a year ago, there has been no talk of it coming back on Netflix.

Co-showrunner Dailyn Rodriguez told Deadline that she was happy to be able to end the show in a good way. She said, “Ending the series this way gave me a huge amount of peace. I think our show can be so dark, violent, and sad on many levels—it starts in a very sad place with what happens to Teresa in the pilot—but there’s also so much beauty in it.

To end the series, “The Wire” chose to shoot in Southern California, which is usually a sunny and beautiful place. But they didn’t see anything on the show that was like what they saw. I loved how it ended. It takes place in a beautiful, sunny place that we haven’t seen on the show before. It’s very satisfying on an emotional level.

What Occurred Between Seasons 1 and 5 of the Queen of the South?

The main character of the show is Teresa Mendoza. She is special and has made it through a lot. She used to be a money changer in Sinaloa, but she rose to power and started and grew her own drug cartel, which now controls all transport and sales of cocaine in Arizona and has branches in Florida, Louisiana, New York City, Georgia, and Europe. Fans want to see her in Queen of the South season 6 because of her.

The slow burn between Teresa and James is the best slow burn on modern TV. Teresa works for him, and he teaches her the harsh truths of the business world.

In season 2, Teresa Mendoza tries to get Camila Varga to like her so she can prove herself. Camila has enough to do to keep her drug cartel going while her husband tries to shut it down and get her back home. Teresa has to leave Mexico because of the drug cartel, and she ends up in the United States. Now that she is on her own and has to start from scratch, she has to build an empire.

In season 3, she starts a business in Phoenix and Arizona. This gives her more power over the supply route from Colombia, Central America, and the United States. In the process, she got rid of some of her competitors.

In Season 4, Daily Rodriguez and Ben Lobato took over as showrunners for Queen of the South. They were made executive producers and showrunners, taking over for Natalie Chaidez, who left for better things.

This season, Teresa gets closer to the Throne by taking over a smuggling operation that runs from Sinaloa to Phoenix, Miami, and New Orleans. Later, she expands her operation to New York City and deals with Russian mafias.

Teresa has always stayed out of trouble in the first two seasons. She still wants Toa and Salazar, but she doesn’t care about how they feel if it’s not as important to her as how she feels.

This attack won’t be enough to beat her. El Gordo betrayed his bosses and joined up with her, giving her a second chance at life. In season 6, she strengthened her position in New York. Then, in season 5, she went to Europe.

Teresa’s biggest dream is to be so successful that she is “too big to fail.” But an old enemy from her time in the CIA messes up those plans.

During this season, Teresa’s family keeps getting smaller and smaller. Still, she finds love despite everything. When the CIA tries to use her as a pawn in their games, she comes up with a plan to fake her death and leaves the drug life for good.
