Oklahoma State Health Commissioner Lance Fry and Deputy Commissioner of Community Health Services Keith Reid spoke at a virtual news conference Thursday at 11 p.m. The first dose of the Pfizer Govt-19 vaccine will arrive in the state next week, according to the Department of Health. The first phase of the vaccine distribution program will begin with the first doses allocated to first-line health workers. During a news conference, Fry said the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine will arrive in Oklahoma next week. The moderna vaccine is expected to arrive in late December. He said about 30,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine and 10,000 doses of moderna vaccine would be given to the state initially, however, changes in this are possible. Fry clarified during the press conference that these levels are not available to the general public. They will first go to the leading health workers. With the advent of the “first part” of 2021, the vaccine will be available to the general public. He said people should continue to take precautionary measures like masking and social exclusion in the next few months.
