Tyler Perry is one of the best-known and richest people in Hollywood. Perry is best known for playing Madea in stage plays and movies. He has gone from being a simple writer and producer to a pop culture icon, with a long list of successful movies and TV shows on his resume.
The 52-year-old is worth $660 million right now, and he or she has several shows on Oprah’s OWN Network. He’s on his way to becoming a billionaire, but does he have anyone to spend all that money with?
Perry has been with model Gelila Bekele since 2009. They met at a Prince concert in 2007 and have been together since 2009. On November 30, 2014, Aman was born. He was the couple’s first and only child. After that, they were together for another six years, until they broke up in 2020. Even though they had been together for 10 years, they didn’t get married.

What Occurred Between Tyler Perry and Gelila Bekele?
Most people thought that Perry and Bekele would get married after they had been together for 10 years and had a son together. Then why didn’t they marry?
As it turns out, Perry is a very busy man who spends a lot of time and energy on his work. He took this into account when he thought about getting married. According to the Huffington Post, Perry explained his decision on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno: “I’m not sure what kind of husband I’ll be if I work this hard. I don’t know much about marriage, but I’m sure I’d be a great dad.”
Even though Perry didn’t want to get married, he was definitely in love with his ex-girlfriend. In an interview with People in 2017, the creator of House of Payne said of Bekele, “There’s no one else on this planet I’d want to be with or have a child with because she’s so great.”
Since 2020, Perry has been putting most of his time and energy into making more projects for streaming services like BET Plus, Disney Plus, and Netflix. He has also added movies like Bad Boys 3 and Coming to 2 America to his studio production company, Tyler Perry Studios. Perry is also putting a lot of effort into building a writers’ room so that other writers can join in on his creative process.
In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Perry said that he plans to give some of the work to other aspiring TV writers and directors while he takes on more of a managerial role. Perry explained why he was making the announcement and what he had planned for the future. He reassured fans that he would still be writing for another three to four years.
“My plan is to relinquish to a lot more directors and writers to take over a lot of these shows that I’ve started. It’s going to be more of me overseeing, rather than doing the hands-on work. For the past six weeks, I was in the mountains. I wrote 72 episodes of television…I start writing at 7 and don’t finish until 7 in the evening. I do that every day until it’s done. I love it. And I love directing for 12- or 15-hour days. But I realize there’s so much more that I could be doing if I were to hand some of the other stuff off — rather than doing it all myself.”
At 52, Perry would probably be smart to take a break and let someone else do the hard work for a while. He has one of the biggest production companies in the world right now, with dozens of different projects going on at once. No matter how great he is, he is still just one person. And after all the hard work he’s done over the past few decades, he deserves a long break.
Who can say? Perry might have a big plan and gesture in mind to make peace with Bekele. Like Tony Stark did in Iron Man 3 when he blew up all those Iron Man suits for Pepper Potts.

Perry did say that he wasn’t sure what kind of husband he would be with his current work ethic, so maybe this is an attempt to spend more time with Bekele and his son. We hope that’s the case because it would be great for Perry to end his life on a happy note.
