The Movie is one of the rawest and most violent anime series ever produced, but it has left a significant mark and even inspired current blockbusters.
The program follows Lucy, one of the newly created species known as Diclonius, who has escaped the facility where she was being held for research.
Lucy was hurt while causing havoc outside. As a result, she developed a childlike personality.
It’s about a girl named Aoba Suzukaze (Nanase Mitsuko) who takes up running at Kyokai High School to make new friends after failing the academic entrance exams four times.
The series was left on a cliffhanger. However, more than a decade and a half have passed since then, and we still haven’t heard anything about season 2. What are the chances of seeing a second season?

Will There Be A Second Season Of ‘Elfen Lied’ On HBO?
The anime series has been on hold for almost 20 years now, but Arms Corporation has yet to green-light a second season. The anime isn’t actually canceled yet, so we’re left hanging for a long time.
The anime was produced by the Arms Corporation to great effect. It’s a shame that there hasn’t been another season since then.
Why Isn’t It Been Confirmed That ‘Elfen Lied’ Is Getting A Second Season?
One of the possible reasons for the anime’s cancellation is that it was produced by a bankrupt studio, which was filed for insolvency on July 22, 2020. The studio shut down on August 4, 2020. Dandelion was the name of the company’s early incarnation.
It was originally known as Xtra-Extreme. It became Triple X shortly thereafter. They ceased operating following the company’s bankruptcy, however.
The best option for ‘ to resurface is to be picked up by a new company.
Another possible reason for the series’ cancellation is a lack of materials. In August 2005, the manga concluded its run in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. We understand that anime series are frequently developed to increase manga sales. Without any more manga to sell, the appeal for an anime may simply fade away.
What Do Anime Fans Think Of ‘Elfen Lied’?
The anime series was met with a variety of opinions from anime fans. It was subjected to a number of debates due to its story and scenes that are not for the faint-hearted.
There were some good reviews, however, there were also some bad ones. Anime News Network is praised for its storyline and technical distinction in terms of production quality, animation, and color.

I’d also heard of Akira, but had never seen it. More recently, I’d seen an anime called Elfen Lied that was clearly influenced by Akira. That was really significant. When I saw it, I thought it felt like an ultra-violent E.T.
‘There were a number of things in there that I really liked and that ended up in the show, especially with regard to Eleven’s character,’ creator Matt Duffer said in an interview.
It’s unfortunate to realize that it won’t be returning, but the anime series’ legacy is something worth appreciating.
