The year 2022 was a remarkable one for anime. From returning series such as Attack on Titan and My Hero Academia to debuts such as Spy X Family and Ranking of Kings, anime fans continue to win. However, one title sliced through the competition more viciously and grotesquely than the rest.

We are referring, of course, to Chainsaw Man, Studio MAPPA’s extremely violent and highly addictive breakout hit. Before the adaptation, Tatsuki Fujimoto’s manga was already popular with readers, but now that the first season has concluded, Chainsaw Man has arguably become the most successful anime of the year.

But what is in store for the first season’s intense conclusion? Chainsaw Man has not yet been officially renewed, but there is still plenty of source material to cover, and it seems unlikely that Studio MAPPA would not capitalize on this success.

Therefore, here is everything you need to know about the second season of Chainsaw Man.

When Will the Second Season of Chainsaw Man Premiere?

The premiere of Chainsaw Man occurred on October 12, 2022, prompting fans to speculate that new episodes could premiere in the fall of 2023.

However, Studio MAPPA does not always follow this yearly pattern, and AnimeGeek.com has reported rumors that a return in 2024 is more likely. We’ll update you as soon as we learn more, assuming, of course, that Chainsaw Man is renewed.

Who Will Be Back for Chainsaw Man Season 2?

If or when Chainsaw Man comes back, the following Japanese and English voice actors will probably play the same roles for season two:

  •  Denji – Kikunosuke Toya (Japanese) / Ryan Colt Levy (English)
    • Pochita, by Shiori Izawa (in Japanese) and Lindsay Seidel (in English)
    • Makima – Tomori Kusunoki (Japanese) / Suzie Yeung (English)
    • Aki Hayakawa – Shogo Sakata (Japanese) / Reagan Murdock (English)
    • Power – Fairouz Ai (Japanese) / Sarah Wiedenheft (English)
    • Kobeni – Karin Takahashi (Japanese) / Bryn Apprill (English)
    • Hirokazu Arai – Taku Yashiro (Japanese) / Jarrod Greene (English)
    • Kishibe was written in Japanese by Kenjirou Tsuda and in English by Jason Douglas.
    • Katana Man – Daiki Hamano (Japanese) / Jason Marnocha (English)

Himeno might not come back, though, unless season two has flashbacks that bring her back. If that’s the case, it’s likely that Mariya Ise and Katelyn Barr will play the role again in the original Japanese version and the English dub, respectively.

As more characters are added in season two, there will, of course, also be new cast members.

Neither Y Taichi (in Japanese) nor Emi Lo (in English) will play the role of Akane again. Akane was killed by the Snake Devil at the end of the first season in a very sad way.

Chainsaw Man Season 2 Trailer

Chainsaw Man’s second season doesn’t have any new footage yet, but in the meantime, you can watch our video about the most important shows to watch in 2023. you can watch the trailer for Season 1 below.

What is the Chainsaw Man Season 2 Storyline?

The first season of Chainsaw Man was about a boy named Denji and his friend Pochita, who was a Chainsaw Devil that looked like a dog.

Denji becomes a Devil Hunter after taking over his father’s debt to the yakuza. However, he is killed by a Zombie Devil, which is one of many creatures that come from people’s fears.

Denji, on the other hand, is brought back to life and fuses with Pochita to become the Chainsaw Man. By pulling the ripcord on his head, he can turn into a chainsaw that can think for itself.

He grew into his role as Public Safety Devil Hunter with his partner Power, Aki, Himeno, and Kobeni for most of the first season. They fight people like the Bat Devil, the Ghost Devil, and the Katana Man, all of whom they end up catching.

At the end of the season, the Snake Devil kills Akane, the team is looking for the Gun Devil, and a mysterious new woman asks if someone would rather be a “country mouse” or a “city mouse.”

The first 38 chapters of the manga were used to make the first season of Chainsaw Man. So, if you want to find out what will happen in the second season, you’ll have to start reading chapter 39.

As of right now, it’s not clear how much of the source material will be used in the next season. We’re about 40% of the way through the first part of the manga, which is called the Public Safety Saga. However, there’s probably too much to cover in just 12 episodes.

If the second season doesn’t go on for longer, Chainsaw Man will return in the middle of the explosive Bomb Girl arc (chapters 40-52) and the International Assassins arc (chapters 53-70). Reze, the woman who was seen at the end of the season 1 finale, will play a big role in the next set of episodes.

I’m not giving anything away here. As the now-merged Division 4 of Public Safety and its team of Devil Hunters meet new friends and foes, they will also feel the threat of Gun Devil as a whole.

Where to Watch Chainsaw Man?

The first season of Chainsaw Man is available on Crunchyroll for Premium members to watch subbed and dubbed (with the season 1 finale arriving in English in mid-January).

It is likely that the second season of Chainsaw Man will be available exclusively on Crunchyroll concurrently with its Japanese broadcast time.

Conclusion

In the end, Chainsaw Man’s first season was a huge success. Its violent and intense storyline kept people watching. Even though the official renewal for a second season has not been announced, it is very likely that Studio MAPPA will take advantage of the success of the series.

The story from the first season, which was very exciting, is expected to continue in the second season, which might come out in 2024.

Fans can expect familiar voice actors to come back and new characters to be introduced as the Public Safety Devil Hunters face new threats and learn more about Chainsaw Man’s world.
